Album Review

Walt Mink's swan song is, fittingly, a recording of the band's final concert. Taped at New York City's cozy Mercury Lounge, Goodnite offers a glimpse of Walt Mink's sinewy concert presence; their tightly wrapped indie pop is performed with the sure-footed precision of a band that has sharpened its skills (and paid its dues) through endless touring. Injected with palpable energy and excitement, Goodnite is a no-frills live recording that shows a band ending its career on a high note.

The alternative punk-pop group Walt Mink formed in the late '80s at Macalester College in Minnesota, with guitarist/vocalist John Kimbrough, bassist Candice Belanoff, and drummer Joey Waronker taking their name from a favorite psychology professor.
