A note on battery –
We've spent years developing the location technology that powers Foursquare City Guide, making it extremely power efficient. But, as with all apps of this type, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

A misguided concept
First of all, I don't buy it that people were not using foursquare for searches. I personally started using it for refined searches right away. It was so obvious that it was a great and exciting app for that. But even if that was so, wouldn't it have been much more sensible to keep the elements that made people attracted to foursquare in the first place and solve the problem of searches by, for example, bringing it in the forefront and making checkins a sort of secondary function? Also, this tastes business makes me cringe. Okay, yeah, I love pasta, but that does not make me want to eat pasta all the time. So why bugging me with offering me tons of pasta places all the time? Unbelievable. And the ceaseless gps tracking as well. Not to mention the much more cumbersome use and the stupid functionalities in swarm such as the ridiculous and useless plans. Congratulations for destroying what used to be one of the best apps ever made.
Nice UI change, but constant connection errors, GPS issues, and the annoying bug, where check-in page is different then the one clicked on the list. Downrated.
