Canadian singer and actor Alexz Johnson got her big break in 2000 when she was cast in the lead role of the Disney television series So Weird. A few years later, she was cast in the lead role of Instant Star, a CTV teen drama about an adolescent music star. On each episode of Instant Star, Johnson's character performed a song, some of which she herself had a hand in writing. These songs were compiled on a series of soundtrack albums, beginning with Songs from Instant Star (2005). Around the time the show was coming to an end, Johnson signed with Epic. ~ Jason Birchmeier
