Buckfast Superbee

About Buckfast Superbee

San Diego indie rock quartet Buckfast Superbee formed in 1997 after guitarist Nick Keyser and drummer Matt Burlile placed an advertisement in a local weekly seeking a singer and bassist; in guitarist TJ, they found neither, although he was reluctantly pushed to assume lead vocal duties regardless. As winners of the Rumble '97 local band competition, the group earned 40 hours of free studio time, recording their self-titled 1998 debut LP; new bassist Kevin Stram joined the lineup prior to 2000's Star 1/2. You Know How the Song Goes followed a year later. ~ Jason Ankeny
