About Eshon Burgundy

Rapper Eshon Burgundy was born Anton Eshon Hairston in Abington, Pennsylvania on April 21, 1980. Hairston became involved in the underground hip-hop community in Philadelphia in his teens, but was unsuccessful in launching a career as a rapper. After devoting his life to Christianity in 2001, he focused his career on making overtly Christian-themed rap music. Hairston built up a touring résumé performing across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom alongside artists both inside and far beyond the Christian rap scene, including Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Alicia Keys. He contributed to DJ Jazzy Jeff's 2007 album, The Return of the Magnificent. After he guested on numerous albums and mixtapes by fellow Christian rap artists, including Jackie Hill Perry, Alert312, and Andy Mineo, Eshon Burgundy's first album, Blood Rushing to My Head, was released in 2012. The mixtape For God's Sake appeared in 2013, followed by the sophomore full-length The Fear of God in 2015. After leaving the Humble Beast label to once again go independent, Burgundy delivered his third LP, The Passover, in 2016. ~ Paul Simpson
