About Juanes
Juanes is the stage name of Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, an award-winning Colombian singer-songwriter who has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. ∙ He began playing guitar at age seven, learning traditional Colombian folk music styles from his father and older brothers. ∙ After fronting the successful Colombian metal band Ekhymosis, Juanes made his solo debut in 2000 with Fíjate Bien, an album which earned him three Latin Grammy Awards. ∙ Juanes’ 2002 release Un Día Normal hit no. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and remained in the Top 10 for a record 92 weeks. ∙ Mi Sangre, his 2004 album, sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, and was a Top 10 hit in 15 countries. ∙ Juanes’ biggest hit song, 2005’s controversial “La Camisa Negra,” topped the charts in Spain and ten other countries and was his first single to go Gold in the US. ∙ His 2007 album, La Vida… Es Un Ratico, reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. ∙ Más Futuro Que Pasado, released in 2019, became his seventh consecutive studio album to reach the Top 10 of Billboard’s Latin Albums chart.
