About Minnesota Orchestra

The Minnesota Orchestra, one of the leading American orchestras, has often been referred to as the "orchestra on wheels" because of its extensive touring. Its music directors and guest conductors include several very prominent names, and it has been featured on broadcasts and recordings dating back to 1923. In 2003, the orchestra won a Grammy Award for the album Casa Guidi under Eiji Oue. It won another Grammy in 2014 for a recording of Sibelius' first and fourth symphonies under Osmo Vänskä. In 2023, the Minnesota Orchestra's recording prowess was still notable when they issued two volumes of the acclaimed Mahler symphony cycle under Vänskä. That year, Thomas Søndergård became the orchestra's music director.
