Pot pourri

About Pot pourri

The vocal quartet-plus-pianist ensemble Pot-Pourri has performed far beyond the shores of its home, Australia. It has made 40 overseas trips, as far away as Italy and the U.S., to present lively programs that combine anything and everything from opera arias to familiar pop songs. It frequently customizes its programs to suit the audience or venue, with specific programs of just cabaret or Broadway music, one for children, and one where the vocalists share the stage with circus acrobats. The group came together in 1987, with two of the founding members, soprano Tania de Jong and baritone Jonathan Morton, still with it for its 25th anniversary in 2012. Its seventh album, Silver, released for the anniversary, is a perfect example of its programs. It contains songs by Édith Piaf, Sting, Tom Lehrer, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Chopin, Puccini, and more. ~ Patsy Morita
