About Wilt

Formed from the ashes of Irish grunge trio Kerbdog, Cormac Battle (guitar/vocals) and Darragh Butler (drums) attempted a more commercial approach with their new band. After the demise of Kerbdog, following the release of their excellent second album in 1997, Battle and Butler parted company with former colleague Colin Fenelley and teamed up with old school-friend Mick Murphy to form Wilt. They signed a recording contract with Australian label Mushroom Records and reunited with former Kerbdog associated Ronan McHugh, working with the producer at Sun Studios in Dublin. Their 2000 debut, Bastinado, was named after a punishment inflicted by beating the soles of the feet. Battle and Butler’s new approach proved to be closer in style to modern power pop bands such as Fountains Of Wayne and the Dandy Warhols than their previous grunge influences. My Medicine, like its predecessor, was replete with big melodies and catchy choruses, drawing favourable reviews in both the Irish and UK music press.
