About Yölintu

Yölintu are a Finnish schlager band that broke through to mainstream success in 1998 and released a long line of Top Five albums from that point onward. Founded in 1992, the band is comprised of Simo Silmu (vocals), Matti Silmu (guitar), Markus Kuusijoensuu (guitar), Kari Heiskari (bass), and Mikko Taipale (drums). Saku Mansikkamäki, a founding member, was the band's drummer for over a decade (1992-2003). Yölintu made their album debut in 1993 with Yölintu Laskeutuu, followed by Pieni Lintunen (1994) and Kaikki Kohdallaan (1997). They then broke through to mainstream success with their fourth album, Tositarkoituksella (1998), a Top Five hit on the Finnish albums chart. Yölintu's popularity from this point onward was so durable that each of the band's albums released during the subsequent decade was a Top Five hit, including Pienen Pojan Haaveet (2000), Sitä Saa Mitä Tilaa (2001), Tää On Rankkaa (2002), Mahdunko Maailmaas -- Kaikki Parhaat (2003), Mennyttä Miestä (2005), Haavoittumaton (2007), and Nyt ja Aina (2009). ~ Jason Birchmeier
