Armada established themselves among the acts that popularised the plaintive, melancholic strain of mid-2000s rock music—but their path to stardom was not without its share of bumps. Originally called Kertas, the Palembang-based band didn’t break through until their third LP (and their second as Armada)—2009’s fittingly titled Hal Terbesar. With it came the success of “Mau Dibawa Kemana”, a classic story of young love’s push and pull. Armada’s popularity grew well into the 2010s, and continues with a steady stream of releases.
