Recorded live at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Un Canto de México: Alejandro Fernández en Vivo Desde Bellas Artes (2002) is one of numerous in-concert albums in the singer's catalog. In accordance with his landmark surroundings at the Bellas Artes concert hall, Fernández puts on a regal performance in tribute to some of Mexico's finest songwriters. The double-disc album includes 37 songs in all, many performed in medleys. The Juan Gabriel medley in particular is a highlight. The first disc is characterized by operatic vocals and boleros, whereas the second is characterized by rancheras.
