Album Review

Caledon Wood focuses on another expansion for Al Petteway. Treating his acoustic guitar with flourishes of jazz and contemporary new age music, Petteway continues to concentrate on traditional Irish music and his own compositions, with help from mandolinist Amy White, percussionist Anderson Allen, viola player Bonnie Rideout and pipe player Eric Rigler.

Wonderful music

This is a beautifully melodic album of wonderful Celtic music and some of Al's own compositions. The tunes stay with you and we're instantly recognisable when you hear them again. If there are any complaints, it is that some of the strongest tunes like Sligo Creek can be a little repetitive, detracting from the overall beauty of the song.
