iTunes Review

Released just three years after the band’s official break-up, “The Blue Album” put The Beatles’ later-year tracks into one package (released simultaneously with “The Red Album”) featuring key songs from the group’s albums as well as stand-alone singles. With music that signified the group’s own development as well as the culture around them, this selection of material from albums such as Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road contains some of their most radical studio experiments and most loved songs.

Ah, the memories...

Born in the mid sixties, I missed out on the excitement of the Beatles era and didn't discover them until they had already broken up and become legendary, but early in the seventies, I discovered them through the gift of music; I was given both the Red and Blue albums by a Beatles fanatical relative.

That simple act genuinely changed me from a kid with no interest in music to a kid obsessed with the music of the Beatles. I played those albums so often that I learned off by heart, not just the lyrics of every song, but also the running order of the tracks, to the point that if I heard a particular song from one of the two albums on the radio, I knew what the next track that followed on the album would be and was always disappointed when it didn't follow on the radio. To this day, I still have that running order in my head.

Of all the Beatles albums, the Red and Blue hold significant meaning for me and will always remind me of that time of innocence and discovery and the birth of a life long love of music.

Red & Blue Albums

Agree with last review. THE ideal present for any one of any age that knows nothing about the Beatles. These 2 albums will convert and change their lives from day 1. I bought the red album from a second hand record store and got two part time jobs at 13 years of age to buy the blue.

Years Active: '60s

So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Moreover, they were among the few artists of any discipline that were simultaneously...
