Toronto's Headstones continue to engrave their standing as one of Canada's most meaningful purveyors of hard rock. In the plus column, check off solid, non-pretentious, streetwise, punk-inflected songs, power-chord noise and memorable riffs, and seedy, unpretentious lyrics. On the short side, the disc battles demons common to sophomore releases competing with stellar debuts - the spontaneous rush of new discovery has been lost; sometimes-unrealistic expectations have built up; there just never seem to be as many memorable moments as that first magic go-round.

The Western-tinged, hard-edged rock & roll of Headstones began in the late '80s in Ontario, Canada, and consists of vocalist Hugh Dillon, guitarist Trent Carr, bassist Tim White, and drummer Dale Harrison. The band signed to MCA in 1993 and soon after released Picture of Health, followed by Teeth & Tissue.
