Album Review

This is a delightful collection of 20 singles and B-sides, 17 of which never found their way onto studio albums. Several of these selections have become concert favorites like "I'd Love to Kiss the Bangles" and "Michael D. Rocking in the Dail." Many of the remaining tracks possess the youthful exuberance found on earlier albums like If This Is Rock'n'Roll, I Want My Old Job Back and All the Way From Tuam presumably since they were written during that early period. The Saw Doctors playfully mix early rock & roll with punk, country, folk and even Motown and, as is their trademark, compliment the music with themes of youthful lust, small town living, growing up Catholic and other recurrent identifiers. Lead vocalist Davey Carton compiled this collection so the integrity of the band and what they stand for is preserved. For those who haven't had the experience of seeing this band live or haven't heard the numerous Saw Doctors four-song single releases Play it Again Sham! is indeed the missing link.

In the decade since, however, the Saw Doctors have emerged...
