Album Review

The Dead Can Dance progression continues with this video release, which starts out with a video for "Yulunga (Spirit Dance)" from Into the Labyrinth and then moves into a film of the live performance at the Mayfair in Santa Monica that forms the basis for the live album release. This is Dead Can Dance in confident form, performing a mixture of new material and standard repertoire, intercut with interview footage. It's intriguing to watch, though most will probably be more satisfied, on a repeat basis, with the album.

Dead Can Dance combine elements of European folk music -- particularly music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance -- with ambient pop and worldbeat flourishes. Over the course of their career, Dead Can Dance have featured a multitude of members, but two musicians have remained at the core of the band -- guitarist Brendan Perry and vocalist Lisa Gerrard....
