Album Review

The first disc of this double-CD set is one of the best sounding live recordings by Lindisfarne — a group on which there is no shortage of concert documents — with a very aggressive sound and a close, intimate feel, vivid stereo separation, and a highly animated and assertive presence for the band. Cut at the Apollo in Glasgow, Scotland, it caught the group on a particularly good night vocally and with all of the instruments picked up just right on the microphones, and also with their repertory expanded to including the Phonogram songs (among them "Run for Home") as well as all of the Charisma-era material for which they were known. The second disc derives from an Alan Hull solo radio appearance dating from 1976 that makes a good companion, capturing him on an acoustic guitar in a very intimate setting in excellent voice.
