Ratings and Reviews
I didn't really like Pocket Casts when I bought it, it was version 2.0 and I just didn't like it. But this new version though, wow! It's a completely different app, the UI is so much better! I'll probably replace the Podcasts app that I'm using now with Pocket Casts after I'm done testing it some more.
I'm really liking it so far, however there are still some things I don't like about this app...
- You can't "Custom Sort" your Podcasts, you can sort by "Date Added", "Title" and "Latest Episode" but you cannot order and more Podcasts around as you wish.
- I wish there was a preview of episodes before actually adding a podcast... when you find some podcast and go into it's
"Info" page there should be a list of podcasts and you can listen to and decide whether you want to add the podcast to your list.
- Sleep timer - Would be nice if there was a built in timer in the app to turn the Podcast off after a certain time.
- IMO, the whole podcast list view is still kind of messy...
"show old episodes" should just be in the "All" tab, why hide the old episides away? Just display them in the "All" In fact the podcast icon tab and the "All" tab should be combined.
- In the "All" tab you can't mass delete the Podcasts.
- Favourites - There should be a dedicated tab or a menu maybe near "Podcasts" and "Episodes" where all your favorites would be displayed.
If the developer addresses the above this will easily be a 5-star application for me.
Best “podcatcher” app
Podcasts apps are really important if you regularly listen to podcasts (obvious, right?). Seems so, but many of them are sub-par. Overcast is ok but Pocketcasts is waaay better. And that’s saying something. The menus and playback options are just great. It’s intuitive and lets you get listening to what you want right away. Some extra touches show this app is developed with a lot of care and attention, kudos.
No way to automatically put podcasts on the top of the queue
All the new episodes are placed at the bottom of the queue. There is no option to change that. You manually have to go every day and fiddle around with the queue to rearrange the episodes. This is a must feature missing for certain types of podcasts like news related ones.
Finally gave up and moved to Castro. It's not as full featured but at least it requires way less attention from me.
