About Bobby Charles

Louisiana singer and songwriter Bobby Charles was a prime exponent of the "swamp pop" brand of New Orleans R&B in the 1950s and early '60s. Though he had some success with his own recordings, his biggest payday came as the writer of Bill Haley's "See You Later, Alligator" and Fats Domino's "Walking To New Orleans." Years later, befriended by The Band, he recorded a classic self-titled album produced by Rick Danko and Band producer John Simon, and played on their legendary Last Waltz concert, though he didn't make it to the film version.
