About Disbelief

German death metal band Disbelief were formed in 1991 by vocalist Karsten Jäger, guitarist Oliver Lenz, and drummer Markus Gnap, with guitarist/bassist Denis Musiol joining in time for their first demo the following year. Two further demo tapes preceded the group's eponymous first album in 1997, by which time Musiol and Gnap had been replaced by guitarist Tommy Fritsch, bassist Jochen Trunk, and drummer Kai Bergerin. A sophomore effort entitled Infected followed a year later, and, after a short pause to replace Fritsch with new guitar player Jan-Dirk Löffler, Disbelief scored a new recording contract with Massacre Records for the release of 2001's Worst Enemy and 2002's Shine albums. Their fifth opus, Spreading the Rage, arrived a couple of years later and, of note, was given North American distribution through Nuclear Blast -- as was its 2005 successor, 66Sick, which also saw Fritsch reinstated. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
