About Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions

In 2000, vocalist Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) joined with drummer Colm O'Ciosoig (My Bloody Valentine) to form Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions. The project retained the laid-back slowcore sound of Mazzy Star, and featured Sandoval's sensuous, hypnotic voice. However, it replaced the psychedelic leanings that Mazzy Star were known for with spare, subtle arrangements that reinforced Sandoval's gentle vocal style. The first Warm Inventions EP, At the Doorway Again, followed by the full-length Bavarian Fruit Bread, were released in 2000. Eight years later, the pair returned with Through the Devil Softly. It would be another seven years (after Mazzy Star and My Bloody Valentine made comebacks) before they would release 2016's Until the Hunter. ~ Stacia Proefrock & Neil Z. Yeung
