Jonathan Manson

About Jonathan Manson

Scottish cellist and gambist Jonathan Manson is a native of Edinburgh. Among his teachers were Jane Cowan at the International Cello Centre and Steven Doane and Christel Thielmann at the Eastman School of Music; he also studied the viola da gamba with Wieland Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. A founding member of the viol consort Phantasm, Manson has also performed with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The English Concert, the Gabrieli Consort and Players, the English Baroque Soloists, and the European Brandenburg Ensemble. He has collaborated with such early music specialists as Trevor Pinnock, Rachel Podger, Emmanuel Pahud, and Matthew Truscott. Manson is also the cellist of the London Haydn Quartet. Based in London, Manson teaches at the Royal Academy of Music. ~ Blair Sanderson
