Biography

Louise L. Hay, metaphysical guru, author, teacher, and lecturer owns Hayhouse Publishing — a firm dealing exclusively in new age works and promoting music, books, audio books, and other token items by various practitioners in the field. Hay's first claim to fame came in the form of her first book — You Can Heal Your Life — which was subsequently reprinted in several editions and in over 30 languages, including an abridged audio book. It has sold over three million copies.

On her recordings, you can hear Hay's smooth voice narrating her novel and guiding listeners along a meditative musical journey. She deals with all aspects of health and holistic healing. Her central focus is that human beings are responsible for "the lives we create by the thoughts we think." She believes that negative thoughts produce "dis-ease" in the body.

Before becoming a renowned author and lecturer (and author of the syndicated column Ask Louise), Hay became a "Science of the Mind" minister. She was diagnosed with cancer shortly after, which she healed through her ideologies. She went on to publish 30 books (most have accompanying recordings). Her first publication and Empowering Women are still her most popular.

Hay is nearly three-quarters-of-a-century old and has one sister. She is semi-retired and lives in San Diego, where she enjoys organic gardening in the company of her many pets.
