Martin Stenmarck

About Martin Stenmarck

Swedish pop/rock singer Martin Stenmarck rose to fame in 2005 when he competed in the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Sweden and his competing song, "Las Vegas," in turn became a number one hit in his homeland. Born October 3, 1972, in Täby, Sweden, Stenmarck had already begun his recording career by the time of his 2005 mainstream breakthrough, having previously released a pair of albums, One (2001) and Think of Me (2004), to little impression, the former of the two also released in Germany. In the wake of his Eurovision performance, for which he finished in 19th place, Think of Me was re-released in 2005 with the addition of the number one hit "Las Vegas" and itself became a Top Ten hit on the Swedish albums chart. In 2006 Stenmarck topped both the Swedish albums and singles charts with Nio Sanningar Och en Lögn and "7milakliv," respectively; the latter spent ten weeks atop the singles chart and marked his Swedish-language debut. He returned to the top of the Swedish charts in 2007 with "100 År Från Nu (Blundar)," the lead single from his Top Five Swedish-language follow-up album, Det Är Det Pojkar Gör När Kärleken Dör (2007); "Rubb Och Stubb" was released as the follow-up single and became a Top 30 hit in 2008. ~ Jason Birchmeier
