The Bastard Fairies

About The Bastard Fairies

Controversial Los Angeles-based duo the Bastard Fairies are Native American vocalist Yellow Thunder Woman and multi-instrumentalist Robin Davey. The Fairies originated when Yellow Thunder Woman and Davey met in Minneapolis when Davey relocated from the U.K. to work on a record for Indigenous. The two allowed their unconventional anti-folk to be downloaded free from their website and eventually pressed a proper full-length debut CD titled Memento Mori, which appeared in April 2007. The act gained notoriety when their promotional video of a young girl discussing political and social issues was discussed on news talk show The O'Reilly Factor and called child abuse. The band responded with a statement that the girl was acting as a fictitious character in a commercial for the band. The video has since received over a million views on YouTube. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
