The Hacienda Brothers formed in Tuscon, Arizona in 2002, based around the songwriting partnership of singer and accordionist Chris Gaffney and guitarist Dave Gonzalez. Their soulful blend of alternative country and Muscle Shoals R&B attracted the attention of the legendary songwriter and producer Dan Penn, who produced their self-titled debut album in 2005. Following two more studio albums, 2006's WHAT'S WRONG WITH RIGHT and 2008's ARIZONA MOTEL, and 2007's live MUSIC FOR RANCH AND TOWN, Chris Gaffney died of liver cancer on April 17, 2008.
