Los Cafres: Imprescindibles

Los Cafres: Imprescindibles

Debuting in the early ‘90s, Argentina's Los Cafres start with a reggae template and fill it in with all the combinations they can imagine. On “Tus ojos”, they put a cool drum beat in conversation with ska guitar, then let horns and Moroder-style synths trade melodies between verses. “Momento" teases an R&B piano intro before finally opening up into a rich reggae tapestry with harmonies worthy of The Wailers. Singer Guillermo Bonetto's lyrics are as sweet as the arrangements: on songs like “Sé Q' el Mar”, he holds onto the word “amor” like someone who really believes in it.
