Art as a Community Forum E11

Art as a Community Forum E11

Art does more than question our surroundings. It can also serve as a community forum, as Cliona Maher explains in this congversation. Show notes at http://www.insideview.ie/2018/12/congversation-11.html with music by Andre Louis.

00:33 If someone used five words to find you on Google—and one of those words was Cliona—what would the other four words be? It depends _why_ people were looking for Cliona.

00:58 What sorts of imagery, video clips, audio snippets, or other forms of media text are associated with Cliona Maher? You would probably find pictures of Cliona with others.

03:10 The 2019 theme of Congregation is “community”. How important is the role of art in the development of a vibrant community? See Cliona on YouTube talking about art and community. She references the Theatre of the Oppressed and work of several prominent practitioners.

17:50 Digital Literacy is computational thinking, says Pam O’Brien.

19:09 If we took a shelfie of Cliona, you would see Beloved by Toni Morrison, Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter, and Joseph Campbell’s Hero with a Thousand Faces.

20:22 Four different Tom Murphys get name-checked.

22:32 Being informed by the search algorithm affects how would someone finds you on the internet. You could go directly to @southtipparts or to @clionama. You should read http://southtippartscentre.ie and if you have a local paper, look for arts announcements.

24:13 The purpose of Facebook is changing.

25:29 There are different reasons to use LinkedIn. Slideshare may deliver unexpected results too.

Creative voices sharing power user tips

It’s nice to hear voices in this podcast that I heard the first time during the annual Congregation in County Mayo. I wish the annual meet-up allowed the same luxury of half hour chats—so it’s nice to hear from those clever creatives in the podcast.
