Named for the music collective who helped to inspire its inception, Sheryl Crow’s debut was a hit and it’s not hard to see why. Production here is loose and tumbledown, perfectly fitting Crow’s early jam-band vibe, gravelly voice and down-home, twanging Telecaster. “Run, Baby, Run” is winsome and hopeful, laced with lazy vocals, while “We Do What We Can” employs jazz’s effortless spontaneity. And “All I Wanna Do” is an infectious pop hit, complete with trademark Crow quirks and easy humour.
