The Swachhata-MoHUA is the official app of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), GOI.
The app enables a citizen to post a civic-related issue (eg; a garbage dump) which is then forwarded to the city corporation concerned and thereafter assigned to the sanitary inspector of the particular ward.
The app has been built by IChangeMyCity – a division of Janaagraha, a Bengaluru based non-profit working to improve the quality of life in India’s cities and towns.
How does it work?
Take a picture of the Civic-related issue using your smart phone, and post it in one of the following categories.
・Garbage vehicle not arrived
・Dustbins not cleaned
・Sweeping not done
・Public toilet(s) cleaning
・Public toilet(s) blockage
・No water supply in public toilet(s)
・No electricity in public toilet(s)
The app will capture the location while the picture is being taken. Just type in the landmark of the complaint location. The complaint will then be assigned to the concerned sanitary inspector/engineer.
You can also vote up on any other complaint relevant to you. You will get regular updates on the status of the complaint in the form of a push notification with the ‘Resolved’ image uploaded by the assigned sanitary inspector/engineer.
You can also reopen the complaint if you are not satisfied with the resolution of the complaint.

Very Good App
My PM Modi’s vision is to make our country clean with total support from the citizens & the public servants who in this case are the municipal staff & contractors. Kudos to my Modi. They remove the garbage in a jiffy when complaints are posted by me but when a post is created for construction material/debris removal, they reject it saying that the AE has been informed. They should not reject or close a complaint until it is resolved. Create a tab for abandoned vehicles too as now a days we see many of them abandoned In the lanes for months together. Promote this app via the press. Only 13,000 people in Chennai have downloaded this with only 3000 regular users. This is truly sad.
I post on an average 2 complaints every week. Recently they dumped garbage before my brothers home gate. When confronted & trapped the conservency inspector says that his boss told him to do it as they are not able to take revenge against me any more, hence they want to punish me by punishing my brother. I have a video & picture of this incident.
In any case I am not scared & have now started posting many more complaints every week & educate atleast 2 friends every week & make them start using the app.

Set right the system that not only Garbage but also Debris & abandoned vehicles are removed too. The complaint should not be rejected or closed if these are not removed. Thanks.

Poor response to complaints
The first time my complaint regarding garbage dumping in Aravalis was addressed, I was thrilled and informed everyone around me that this App works. My enthusiasm did not die even when MCG Rejected my complaints saying Suncity is a society. I reasoned with them that if MCG does not help in getting societies cleaned, how can a citizen care about informing about other places.
But this time when I posted pictures of same area, there has been no response. I also saw that if someone gave a remark against this App, then the managers try to shut the person down by asking to file complaint in a form on a link. It appears managers are trying to dissuade genuine complaints.
IT people have done a great job. But it is the municipal corporation and citizens who have to make it effective. Response from municipal corporation Gurgaon and Delhi is not only poor but is misleading. Senior officials need to monitor at least once a week to see that their staff do not either post RESOLVED or REJECTED inappropriately . This brings bad name to govt offices. Quick response and professional support
After having lived in the country all my life, this is by far the easiest and fastest way to raise a request to a government department (MCD in my case). An official called me to understand the problem and location, response team was here in less than an hour. The work was completed in another 2-3 hours. Next day an official called me if we were satisfied with the work and that is the complaint/request can be tested as resolved. That’s citizen support at its best. Jai Hind ! Jai Digital India!
