Ratings and Reviews
When we need to get somewhere quickly and cheaply, this popular ride-sharing app motors to our rescue. We appreciate the variety in our vehicle choices—from budget-friendly carpools to swanky SUVs—as much as we love knowing when our ride is arriving and exactly how much it’ll cost. Heck, now we even use it as a verb: “We’re going to Uber to your place. Be right there!”
Some trashy Uber drivers
16th Nov 2017, Thursday early morning 1.30 am we (family of 4)took an Uber car from airport and the driver really made us feel uncomfortable with his behaviour.
The moment car started, he asked us if we could cancel our booking and pay him cash so he can save the 30% he has to pay Uber. A driver asking us to cancel the booking and that he would drop us home was very weird especially in the middle of the night. It was scary for us. Later, he put the seat belt when we asked him to but removed it in couple of minutes. He was on phone calls more than once and one call was really long and made us really uncomfortable as we could hear him say our destination Bellandur multiple times and giggling and talking softly.
Suddenly from a particular lane another cab started following us or leading us at times and the driver kept staring at us. There were no passengers in it and the car was continuously following us till we reached the lane next to our house. All these acts really scared us as we were travelling with our teenage daughter and 12 years old son.
Uber should strictly monitor such rogue drivers and cancel their affiliation. Anything could have happened that night. We just got lucky.
The system that has made short rides a breeze
I used to hate moving around in public transport, like trains. All because the following trips in Town after reaching ones destination by train was such a hassle. Now with the smart phone-net access-uber has made all that very convenient, I have stopped driving around in my own car across the cities. Thus causing less congestion on the highways (assuming that lot more people like me are following suit) and thus resulting in less stress due to intercity journeys.
Moreover smooth internet access (thanks to all the good and evil created by companies like Reliance Jio) means all these net related facilities has become possible to the man on the street. Uber system as such is highly applauded - competitive pricing (autowalas used to fleece us), generally well behaved drivers - who apparently are given a standard mode of functioning and basic etiquettes to be followed, makes it a pleasant experience all togetherं. World class facility at your doorstep - which our netas would have never got us to experience in India for the next 50 yrs. They have succeeded in keeping the nation behind with all their ‘slow down’ tactics
