About Nucleya

Blending Indian folk sounds with face-melting electronic beats, Udyan Sagar aka Nucleya, is a pioneer of desi-bass and a true titan of India’s independent electronic scene. • Growing up in a community without a thriving music scene, Sagar bonded with peers Mayur Narvekar and Mehirr Nath Choppra. They experimented with production, drawing on interest in new technologies and Narvekar’s rhythmic mastery of the tabla drums. • The three friends founded Bandish Projekt, mounting shows and parties in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi—then London as they began touring internationally. • Sagar left the group in 2007 to pursue a new musical direction by himself, adopting his email password at the time as his moniker. • Despite facing early struggles as a solo act, the artist found his feet with his 2015 EP Koocha Monster, blending urban swagger with frenzied beats. His high-octane electronic sound attracted huge crowds on the festival circuit. • Tapping into rocketing fan fervour, Nucleya debuted his 2015 full-length Bass Rani on the back of a truck as part of Mumbai’s annual religious festival Ganesh Chaturthi. • Often credited as the ringleader of India’s thriving desi bass scene, Nucleya has introduced the genre to the international stage by collaborating with big hitters like Major Lazer.
