Recensione album

The Latin King follows the complete Ros formula for success, including updating a few standards covered previously. One of four numbers sung by Ros, "The Coffee Song" mercifully is free of Ted Heath's orchestra this time. "Alma Llanera" is an interesting choice but it hardly threatens Perez Prado's superb version. The mix of Mexican and Brazilian tunes seems less awkward given the fairly strong arrangements throughout. The Latin King is the last of Ros' Phase 4 albums packaged in the classic 1960s style, although even in later 1970s albums, Ros remains true to the form established at the beginning of Phase 4 stereo.
