Note dalla redazione - iTunes

Throughout the Sisters of Mercy’s rocky career, there has been one constant: Andrew Eldritch. Even his drum machine, “Doktor Avalanche” has changed models. Eldritch began by denying the group’s obvious “gothic” ties before embracing them and making his “dark music” with the great support of fellow industrial and hard-rock bands who never came close to his sound or style. This “Greatest Hits” collection features selections from the Sisters of Mercy’s three studio albums, First and Last and Always, Floodland and Vision Thing, as well as the updated version of the band’s early hit, “Temple of Love,” and the first album appearance of the “Under the Gun” single. The order here is deliberately backwards, starting with the band’s last material and working its way to the first album. “Lucretia My Reflection” and “This Corrosion” from Floodland and “No Time to Cry” and “Walk Away" from the debut are solid introductions. But, surely, anyone entranced with their sound will want the complete studio albums soon enough.

Eldritch originally formed the band in 1980 with guitarist Gary Marx and recorded its first single with...
