Barcelona is not only a city that can be walked. It's a city that SHOULD be walked.

Whether you're visiting the famous Sagrada Familia church towers, perusing the tourist fair and avoiding pickpockets on La Rambla, ascending to the peak of the city for the view from the Gaudi's Park Guell, filling your stomach in the sprawling Boqueria market, discovering the unfortunate squeeking sound your shoes make as you glide through the endlessly beautiful art galleries and museums of the city, or, like me and what seemed like no less than half of the other tourists in the city, arriving in Barcelona simply to worship at the skilled feet of it's world famous soccer club, FC Barcelona, this city is best experienced at ground level.

Barcelona is about the life on the city streets. Not so much about the streets themselves. The architecture is wonderful. Afterall, it's home to one of the world's most famous architects in Gaudi. There's is plenty for the history buff to see. But the real charm of Barcelona is what's happening right now. A "now" that seems to never stop. A "now" that you'll literally hear all night long and into the next day. A sprawling metropolis that covers nearly every inch of the city and sand in footsteps.

In this book, you'll see very few images of the common tourists fare. No need to bore you with endless arms length self portraits of myself standing in front of the church towers smiling through the unreasonable amount of sweat generated by all the walking and aided by Barcelona's humidity perverse Mediterranian locale. Instead, I've focused my camera where my feet were, firmly on street level. I want you to feel the pulse of the city. The emotion. The wonder of Barcelona isn't up high, it's down low. Hope you enjoy the journey of A Mile In My Shoes.
