Fiftysomething Julieta writes a long letter to her daughter Antía, trying to explain all the things she has kept secret in the last thirty years, since Antía was conceived. But when she finishes the confessional, she doesn't know where to send it. Twelve years ago, her daughter left home at eighteen abandoning her mother, who's unsuccessfully searched for her everywhere - only to realize that Antía was a total stranger to her. Written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, this intimate drama is about guilt, destiny and the unfathomable mystery that leads some people to abandon whom they love, erasing their existence. It also explores the pain that this brutal desertion provokes in its victims.
