Description

National Board Certification is a voluntary assessment program designed to identify highly accomplished teachers and school counselors who meet the high and rigorous standards of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential. It complements, but does not replace, a state's teacher license. It is valid for 10 years, after which National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) can seek certification renewal. The Arizona K-12 Center provides professional development to pK-12 educators in Arizona. We work in partnership with the Arizona Education Association and the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education at the Arizona State University on the Tempe campus to support teachers pursuing National Board Certification. This podcast series is intended to inform, motivate, and inspire teachers seeking National Board Certification. It is not endorsed by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards but rather is an attempt by National Board Certified Teachers in Arizona to support their colleagues as they challenge the standards.
