Overview of University Technology Park (UTP), a multi-year, multi-phase development on the south end of Main Campus at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, that encourages businesses and academia to share their intellectual as well as scientific resources and facilities. It is the largest commercial investment in Chicago's South Side since the completion of nearby U.S. Cellular Field in 1991. In fall 2005, the UTP opened its Business Incubator, designed to provide small to medium-sized start-up technology companies and established units with office space, wet and dry lab facilities and access to IIT scientific equipment and research expertise. Three additional buildings serve the specialized needs of Tech Park tenants: • IIT Tower provides flexible office space for information technology and high-tech companies. • IITRI Center is home to IIT Research Institute Life Sciences Group (IITRI), a nationally renowned CRO, providing access to pre-clinical services and equipment • Technology Business Center (TBC) opened in fall 2006. The contemporary design features four floors, soaring atrium, 126,000 square feet of build-to-suit wet lab, dry lab and office space, together with common amenity spaces. At full build-out, University Technology Park will have 1.5 million square feet of space to house mid-sized growing, high-growth, and spin-off technology companies.
