||ExplicitDread Media - Episode 400||Dread Media hits the big 4-0-0! For 400 weeks in a row we have provided you an hour (or so) of audio entertainment covering the horror and dark fantastique across all media, and this week is no different. In fact, all the way back in episode 100 we paid tribute to the man of many media himself: Clive Barker. Since then, a lot has happened in the world of Clive Barker, and Desmond and friends are here to fill you in on the world of film, literature, and comics as they relate to Clive Barker. First, Desmond and Darryll get a look at the long-anticipated Nightbreed: The Director's Cut, a film once considered lost forever. Then, Devil Dinosaur Jr. delivers an epic-length Stay Scary based on the writing work that Clive Barker has done for television, namely: "Haeckel's Tale" and "Valerie on the Stairs" from Masters of Horror, and "The Yattering and Jack" from Tales from the Darkside. Desmond goes solo for the first of two segments on a review of the brand new (yet old) novelette Tortured Souls: The Legend of Primordium. He comes back after a break to discuss the sacrilegious original series form Boom! Studios: Next Testament. Finally, Darryll returns to take look at Lord of Illusions: The Director's Cut. On top of that, it wouldn't be an episode of Dread Media without some thematic tunes: "Transdermal Celebration" by Ween, "Skin" by Oingo Boingo, "Cold Ethyl" by Alice Cooper, "Mr. Torture" by Helloween, "Newborn God (Radiance-Vehemence)" by FEASTofFETUS, "Magic Moments" by Erasure, and "Born to Murder the World" by Simon Boswell. ||ExplicitDread Media - Episode 399||Episode 400 is coming next week, so we needed to clean some of the piles of reviews we have sitting around in Dread Media Global Headquarters. First up, Duane and Desmond take a look at the Canadian horror comedy Wolfcop. Then Desmond settles in for a barrage of reviews from across all media. Books: Angel of the Abyss by Ed Kurtz, Facial by Jeff Strand, and Human Monsters by Gregory Lamberson. A comic book: Shaolin Cowboy: Shemp Buffet. And another film: Muck. Of course, it would be weird if we all of a sudden stopped playing music, right? "American Werewolf in Calgary" by The Browns, "Devil's Blood" by Cancer Bats, "Clones (We're All)" by Alice Cooper, "Unseen Tormentor" by Early Man, and "Killer on the Lamb" by Banjo & Sullivan. RIP Geofrrey Lewis, Tom Towles, and Herb Trimpe. Send feedback to: email@example.com, or 206.278.5257. Follow @DevilDinosaurJr and @dreadmedia on Twitter! Join the Facebook group! ||ExplicitDread Media - Episode 398||Sequels aren't always the best measure of cinematic quality. However, what happens when you have sequels to what many consider to be not only the best genre films of all time, but the best films of all time? This week, Dread Media tries to answer that question. First up, Darryll and Desmond tackle Hitchcock protege Richard Franklin's stab at Psycho II. And, in a brand new Stay Scary, Devil Dinosaur Jr. takes a bite out of 1978's Jaws 2. Of course, there's also a bunch of sequelly songs: "Second Time Around" by The Damned, "Mother" by Danzig, "Fast as a Shark" by Accept, and "Again" by Alice in Chains.
