Where’s image recognition?

Downloaded and payed for premium because I heard that it has new image recognition feature. Still can’t find how to use it, and if it’s there at all.
Besides it, great app

Lacking basic features

There’s a lot of good with Lifesum. It’s cheaper than some of the other ones (like Noom, which is way too overpriced), it’s got a great database of different food, and it has good recipes and tailors to different goals.

But it falls short in other areas. The biggest has to do with water tracking. Every single app that tracks water allows for custom amounts, which makes sense—not everyone exclusively drinks from 250mL cups or 500mL bottles. But Lifesum doesn’t have this option. What’s worse, if you look at Lifesum’s features request page, people have been asking for this option SINCE 2015!! Six years later and they still haven’t added this very simple feature that every other app has.

The other annoyance is you can’t count water from sources that aren’t strictly water. In Simple, for example, you can also track coffee, tea, soda, milk, etc, and it will extrapolate how that affects your daily water intake. I drink a lot of tea and coffee, so this is a no-brainer.

Finally, I have a Fitbit, not an Apple Watch. And this app is very slow to sync the data, even when I hit the sync button. I often find I have to manually enter the information, which is completely tedious.

Thank you for your review. We understand that the water tracker is not ideal and why you would be frustrated with it. To answer your question somewhat: you have two options to track liquids in the app:

1) Any liquid without calories like e.g. water, tea, and coffee without sugar can be tracked both with the water tracker and can be added in the different meal sections

2) Any liquid including calories (beer, lemonade, juice, etc) has to be tracked through a meal to make sure that all calories consumed are being tracked. Tracking a drink with calories in a meal does not automatically track it in the water tracker section.

Not useful in Japan as of now

The UI is incredible and it’s easy to use, but even as a premium user I still find myself wishing that making a new food would not be defaulted to 100g (nutritional serving) when you first use it because most of the food here in Japan isn’t written as such: what’s written is the actual grams when you consume the whole thing. This causes me additional steps to calculate the whole thing in 100g and it takes away the ease, which results to me just searching for the closest thing - which, isn’t the same.

If the app would just calculate how much it is per 100g, that would’ve made my life easier and I would stay. As it stands, I don’t think I’m renewing my account next year.
