  2...2...7...2. Ever wondered why sound people can't think of more interesting things to test mics with? Why not Peter Parker Picked A Pack Of Oh Man Spiderman Doesn't Start With A P? Beats me. Version 7.2 is here to clear up all that confusion and much much more:
  - Added per podcast episode limits. If you have a pesky hourly or daily podcast you're struggling to keep up with, lay your burden at Pocket Casts feet and we'll take care of it. Appreciate all your feedback on this issue!
  - Fixed an issue with the Apple Watch Now Playing screen not showing a skip back button.
  - Added a setting for the default Up Next swipe, so now you can be the master of if play next or play last is best. Play next fo lyfe tho.
  - Fixed quite a few other small things, including some lists getting cut off by the evil that is the mini player.

  2019 came at us so fast. New year, new resolutions, new addiction to chocolat...wait that might have just been me. Well Pocket Casts wants in on that new action too! 7.1.1 might not be as catchy as 2019, but it does feel good to say really fast. No really. Try it!
  
  What's new?
  - Added CarPlay actions for Mark as Played and Star (you can turn these on in Settings -> Playback -> Extra Playback Actions)
  - Added some more polish to the podcast page and sped up both viewing new podcasts and unsubscribing from old ones
  - Fixed some more iPhone SE issues, tiny phone love is real!
  - Added swipe to close for video player, as well as it automatically going full screen when you rotate your phone
  - Fixed the Keep Screen Awake setting occasionally not, well you know, keeping the screen awake
  - Fixed an issue where episodes could be marked as in progress when they actually aren't
  - Changed the look of archived episodes based on your feedback
  - Various other performance enhancements and fixes

  With the holiday season fast approaching, Pocket Santa always delivers the good. He Casts them at you with a sprinkling of terrible puns:
  Santa's highlight reel:
  - Added per podcast auto-archive settings to help people manage shows that release a lot of episodes
  - Added progress indicator to Apple Watch Now Playing page, tap the title to toggle it on
  - Added support for the new watchOS 5 complication styles
  - Added long press play all and archive all options to the Downloads page
  - Added unsubscribe button to the podcast settings page (you can also tap the subscribed tick on the podcast page to do the same)
  - Added a long press option to the skip forward button in the player, for those that quickly want to move to the next episode
  - Added a refresh button to the profile page, as well as displaying when your last refresh was
  - Tap artwork on the player page to quickly view episode info
  - Added release date and season info to items in your Up Next list on the player page
  
  Santa's Elf Related Fixes (SERF for short):
  - various crash fixes and performance improvements
  - Fixed an issue where you couldn't sort Up Next items above/below the height of your screen
  - Improved performance of the Up Next list in the player when you have hundreds of items
  - Updated the Profile tab so that the header scrolls with the rest of the table
  - Various iPad fixes. It's not water proof though, so still don't use it for SERFing (sorry)
  - Fixed an issue that could cause the Inactive sync option not to work properly
  - The list version of the podcast grid now works with accessibility
  - Changed "Now Playing" to "Playing" in the Apple Watch app so it doesn't take 3 seconds for the time to appear on smaller watches
  - Fixed a Chromecast issue that could cause your progress to get reset to 0 when you stop casting
  - Fixed an issue that could cause the app to not get new episodes of some shows
  - There's many more fixes and improvements that are just too long to list in these update notes. Rest assured though that Santa treats his elves with respect, especially now the little blighters have unionised. None of them were harmed in the making of this update, but if they were all the correct health and safety regulations were followed!

  Thanks for all your great feedback around version 7, we're super excited to keep moving things forward just like we have been for the last 8 years. What a ride! Today on the roller coaster of fun we have:
  - changed the 'Unplayed' badge on the podcast grid page to be 'Unfinished' instead, since a lot of you said you'd still like to see a badge if you're half way through something
  - fixed some issues with the network images in the Discover section
  - fixed an issue where your tab bar could go walkabout and not come back (thanks to those of you that helped us track this one down!)
  - added an 'Unarchive All' option that appears when all the episodes in a podcast have been archived
  - added an 'Archive all played' option to give you a quick way to move all your old played episodes in a podcast straight to the archive
  - added an indicator to rows to show if an episode is in your Up Next list
  - fixed some issues with our Siri Shortcuts
  - fixed an issue where re-ordering the filters didn't always stick
  - improve cross device/platform syncing
  - improved performance throughout the app and fixed some crashes reported to us

  After every major release has to come the bugs/fixes update, right? No matter how long you beta test a few things always slip through. The marvellously named 7.0.1 is no different:
  - Fixes an issue where the Discover page could be blank in some regions of the world.
  - Fixed some iPhone SE issues with text getting cut off and buttons not being in quite the right places. We love you tiny phone people. Never change.
  - Fixed some issues with syncing.
  - Updated the search on both the Podcast and Discover pages to scroll away when you scroll the page up. The Podcast one is also now hidden by default, but easy to get to by just pulling down.
  - Fixed some issues with the app badge counting too many episodes.
  - Fixed some issues with the video player when moving to the next thing in your Up Next list.
  - Fixes some crashes too.
  - Added better handling for when a podcast doesn't load in the Discover section.
  - Fixed some CarPlay crashes as well as archived episodes showing up in the podcasts section
  - Player now shows chapter info as you scrub the timeline (for episodes that have chapters)

  Just like another episode of House MD, we bring you another release where we tried to figure out an issue, figured out it wasn't Lupus and almost killed the patient but then saved their lives. SORRY SPOILERS!
  - Fixes an issue with automatic download and WiFi vs Cellular (or 'mobile' as we call it here in Australia. Maaaaaaaaate.) usage. Thanks to the people who gave us the details needed to find this one!
  - Fixes some other issues we found along the way as well

  There's something really catchy about a version number like 6.9.6, I don't think we're going to see a release version as majestic as this until build 7.4.7. But what's new you ask?
  - Fixed an issue with Chromecast discovery (especially when you have them in groups).
  - Fixed an issue where Siri could pause playback in our app but not resume it.
  - Introduced a separate setting for choosing whether to use cell data when auto downloading vs being warned about using cell data in everyday use of the app.
  - Fixes for some people who had sync data too large to, well, sync.
  - Ensured that the app never fakes the funk on a nasty dunk.
  - The app now looks for changes to episode URLs more often, which should fix some download issues.

  We've been busy beavering away on a major new update, but in the meantime we didn't want you feeling all neglected and sad, so here's some cool new things:
  - App now supports variable speed playback when Chromecasting. Youcannowlistentopodcastlikethisandohmywe'vemadethisjokeafewtimesnow. Alternatively 0.5x is hilarious if you want your podcasters to sound a bit tipsy.
  - Fixed those pesky Now Playing paging dots being in the wrong spot on some phones
  - Ireland added to the Discover section. I'd make a joke here, but it would probably be culturally insensitive. Let's just go with: yay!
  - WatchOS target changed to v3, so if you still have iOS 10 you can use our watch app again.
  - Lots of other invisible tweaks and fixes which excites me, but probably not you.

  Ever wondered just how much we can cram into a 0.0.1 update? Well wonder no more! 6.9.1 brings:
  - Show notes that update themselves. So when the author changes them, you'll get the new ones.
  - Alternate icons! We know how much you all love customisation so you now have 4 icons to choose from that match your wallpaper and mood.
  - Auto add to Up Next improvements: you can now add to the top of your list (as well as the bottom if you choose).
  - Lots of performance enhancements.
  - Watch app now goes to the Now Playing page when you tap on an episode to play it.
  - Added an option to open the player whenever you hit play (found in Settings -> Playback).
  - Chromecast fixes.
  - The answer to why the chicken crossed the road. Be warned that it's deeply shocking, involves free will vs destiny and may in fact make you question everything you think you know about life.
  - Dutch flag is now orientated the right way (oopsy daisy, Hup Holland Hup).
  - Playback fixes and enhancements.
  
  So yeah, you really can get a lot in a tiny version change. Take that numbering systems!

  There is nothing at all unusual about this version number, and if you're giggling right now you really need to grow up. Version 6.9 features:
  - Sonos support! Currently in beta, so keep that in mind, but you can now add Pocket Casts as a music service through the Sonos app. For more information check out the news update on our website.
  - Sorting of podcasts on the grid page now ignores 'the' for sorting purposes. You've emailed us. You've tweeted at us. You've petitioned various government agencies, and now, we've finally relented. You're welcome.
  - Added more countries to the discovery section. We plan to add a few more in soon so please don't get mad and point out yours isn't currently in the list :)
  - Fixed an issue where if you play a podcast to the end, then try to play it again it could immediately finish
  - Fixed an issue where the number of extra episodes listed on the mini player up next list could be a weird number. Also a few other issues relating to the Up Next list.

  Version 6.8 comes in hot, like a wrecki...you know what? Everyone is trying to be funny in release notes these days. That was meant to be our thing people! We did it back i 2008 before it was cool. So just to keep being different these release notes are going to be super serious:
  - Apple Watch app! See what's playing and control playback. Check out your Up Next list and pick a new episode to play or just browse one of your filters and find an episode that takes your fancy. One tap and it starts playing on your phone. Like a remote control, but better, because it's strapped to your wrist you'll never lose it down a cou...oh sorry no jokes. It's good because it's on your wrist and always hand...I mean available.
  - The app now tries harder to update episode data that authors have mis-labelled. Should fix things like files that say they are audio but are really videos. That's right, there are video podcasts where you get to be all up close and...sorry almost made another joke.
  - CarPlay fixes. We unfortunately had to move back from a tabbed interface to a list based one. I preferred the tabs, but they are unfortunately buggy and cause connection issues. Your podcast list is now sorted the same as your phone and your Up Next list now also includes the currently playing episode in it. It's the best CarPlay version yet, and we think, you'll love i...sorry did it again.
  
  There's also some bug fixes too. What do those big companies say..."Bug fixes and improvements". There you go. Can't get more serious than that.

  The more geeky among you probably know that companies like Intel used to have a 'tick tock' strategy, which was just a silly way to say they make lots of changes, then they make small tweaks, then they make lots of cha...well you get the idea. We do that too! So 6.7.1 brings you:
  - CarPlay reliability improvements (for those seeing the disconnected from Pocket Casts message)
  - Fixes for some files that wouldn't play with Trim Silence or Volume Boost enabled
  - Some performance improvements and crash fixes
  
  What could the next tick bring? Only...wait for it..._time_ will tell. Get it?! Because clocks go tick and they tell ti...never mind.

  Ever wondered about how we ended up with software version numbers? Or version numbers at all? Developers are weird and in completely unrelated news version 6.7 is here! Standout features:
  - Faster streaming (especially in streaming start times)
  - Completely overhauled CarPlay interface including easier access to your top Episode Filter, Up Next list and much more
  - Various bug/crash fixes and small layout tweaks
  
  Well that's the major stuff. I've always wanted to paste in the entire list of thing I changed just so you know how much I've done, but then we'd end up with stuff like this:
  - Replaced M_PI with Double.Pi to shut the compiler up
  - Turned whole module optimisation back on for this build, who knows it might actually work now?
  - Turned whole module optimsation back off...I'm going to guess this won't ever work properly

  Ever wanted to know more about an episode you just got a push notification about? Well our fancy pants new expandable notifications let you do just that. This version also fixes some playback issues related to podcasts ending slightly too early or sometimes just not ending at all.

  Choo choo goes the update train. Actually peep peep sounds better. I love that each and every one of you are reading these words in your head. Peep. Choo. Peep peep, choo choo. Ha! Anyway what's new?
  - Brand new widget for you to easily see what's playing and switch to something else if it's not to your liking
  - Chapters are now supported when streaming not just when playing downloaded content
  - The stats page now tells you the date those stats started at. Handy to know if you want to brag to people about how much of a podcast fan you REALLY are
  - App now automatically calculates the duration of downloaded episodes since those pesky authors tend to leave that off a lot
  - Long pressing on the mini player now has a new 'Mark As Played' option
  - New 3D touch options
  - The app now attempts to download show notes when an episode is downloaded. Handy for people that travel a lot, or are just too cheap to pay for data.
  - Sprinkled a few animations over the app. Imagine that (now very dank) salt tossing meme, like that, but better, and also using paprika because paprika is the good stuff. Salt is the spice of amateurs.
  
  And some fixes
  - Fixed a bug that could cause items in your Up Next to duplicate
  - Playback speed improvements
  - General speed improvements
  - Fixed an issue where we might miss a tiny bit of playback progress when you switch episodes
  - Battery life improvements
  - Chromecasting improvements
  - Lots of other tiny fixes and changes that would just waaaaay to long to list. Besides, be honest, you'd never read them all.

  Twenty seventeen. Sounds so odd to say. I guess twenty sixteen was no better though. Anyway we're here for the change log, not my internal monologue:
  - You can now unsubscribe from podcasts you're currently playing without the app crashing. I mean I get it, you're so offended by what someone said that you NEED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY but this one took me by surprise. You people are weird.
  - Implemented Siri based actions like "rewind 3 minutes" or "skip ahead 2 minutes". Useful for people with those new fan-dangled wireless headphone thingies (you know, the ones that make you look like you shoved two toothbrushes into your ears).
  - Fixed an issue where playing from Control Centre would sometimes play then pause immediately.
  - Fixed issues with images in show notes being the wrong aspect ratio (look at me and muh big words! ASSSSPEEEECTTTT RAAAAAATIIIIOOOO)
  - Fixed voice over text on the podcast grid
  - Fixed issues around downloading episodes and starring them/marking them unplayed
  - Fixed grid resorting being slow, when you let go. Look it rhymes but let's not pretend that's a crimes. Yes, I added an 's', sorry Jess, it's a mess.
  - Fixed options button on the iPad going walkabouts sometimes on the podcast page.

  Just as we were packing up for the holidays one you anno...I mean wonderful people found a bug we decided we need to fix before the year was out. Well 2 bugs actually, but who's counting? So if you had issues re-sorting your episode filters or with the reliability of syncing between devices those should both now be fixed. We also fixed a bug one of our beta testers found, which we were going to hold until next year, but you have to throw people a bone sometimes. Dogs more often, but then they chew and slobber on it and try to give it back to you. At least people just look at you oddly and ask polite questions like "why on earth did you just throw a bone at me?".

  So 2016 is almost done, holy guacamole that went fast! We have some big plans for 2017, but we wanted to end 2016 on a high by adding a point 1 to our version number. That's right kids, 6.3.1 is here and it's 10% better than 6.3! We fixed quite a few issues you all reported as well as throwing you a bone and un-coupling the auto add to up next feature for a podcast, from having to download it. So now you can say 'Hey Pocket Casts, when a new episode of Squijibo World Weekly comes out, put it straight into my Up Next queue like a Boss!'. Well you can't actually talk to our app (though that would be cool!) but there's a setting for it inside your podcast settings.

  Ever polished a lamp and had a genie pop out? No? Me neither, but I polished the heck out of v6.2 until version v6.3 popped out. True story...mostly. Speed improvements, bug fixes, and a tonne of other small things have been packaged up in a neat little bow and delivered to your door. Or your phone. Or your tablet. You get what I mean.

  As a famous person once said: "I'm Batman". Pretty sure he was, so props to him I guess? In completely unrelated news this is mainly a bug fix release to squash a few little things that cropped up in our 6.2 update. There were a few crashes and inconsistencies we just couldn't let slide. Heck I might have screamed "WHERE IS IT?!" a few times, and maybe mumbled "JUSTICE" a lot too.
  
  We also heard our iPad users loud and clear, you wanted a way to quickly switch themes as well. On the iPhone you double tap the Pocket Casts logo, on the iPad you can now double tap the header at the top of the page.
