Aerosol is the solo alias of Rasmus Rasmussen, a Danish electronic musician and guitar player whose music blends IDM and ambient music with atmospheric post-rock. Rasmussen was a member of Limp, a post-rock group who morphed into stoner rock behemoth Causa Sui. As Aerosol, Rasmussen debuted in 2001 with a self-titled 12", followed by a digital EP. His first full-length album, All That Is Solid Melts Into Air, was released as a limited CD-R. The album's downtempo, clicky beats and sparse yet warm atmospheres attracted n5MD, home to similar artists, and the label signed Rasmussen, releasing Airborne in 2009.
