Chicago-based duranguense stars Aliados de la Sierra hit the Regional Mexican music world with lightning success. In 2007, the same year as their formation, the band released their debut disc, which quickly became one of the top-selling Regional Mexican music releases of the year. The group's members were all seasoned musicians when they came together in January of 2007 (many had cut their teeth with such well-known groups as Los Alacranes Musical, Brazeros Musical, and Banda Kerembe).
