- Following a brief hiatus while frontman Milo Aukerman attended college, the Descendents returned with I Don’t Want to Grow Up, a sophomore slam dunk that built on the sturdy melodies and unfettered nerdiness of their classic debut. Amusingly puerile wisecracks like "Pervert" and "No FB" justify the album’s title, but songs like “Silly Girl” and “Good Good Things” reveal the loneliness lurking behind Aukerman’s childish one-liners, making for an album that both pokes fun at and embraces maturity in the same dogged breath.
- The Descendents' debut album, Milo Goes to College, is one of the most important records in the history of American punk rock. Building on the Ramones' outsider lore and sidestepping the machismo that was already starting to seep into the punk scene, the California group proudly embraced their awkwardness with anthems of alienation like "Suburban Home" and “Myage,” helping to build the template from which legions of pop-punk and emo disciples would learn their craft.
