About Tim Hecker
Canadian artist Tim Hecker has received widespread acclaim for his highly textural recordings that blur the lines between ambient, noise, and electro-acoustic composition. First known for producing experimental techno and IDM as Jetone, Hecker switched to his real name for 2001's Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again, a stirring set of glitch-heavy soundscapes. He continued producing dense collages of found sounds and computer-generated noise, and additionally earned a reputation for his concerts, which were often extremely loud and performed in pitch darkness. Increasingly conceptual releases like 2006's Harmony in Ultraviolet and 2011's Ravedeath, 1972 expanded Hecker's profile as well as his cult fan base, and he pushed further boundaries through collaborations with Aidan Baker and Daniel Lopatin. 2016's Love Streams featured an Icelandic choir, and 2018's Konoyo was recorded with a Japanese gagaku ensemble. Following his first forays into soundtrack work, Hecker released No Highs in 2023.
