Description

***** Complete book with all poems and ghazals *****

Allama Dr.Muhammad Iqbal was a poet, philosopher and politician in British-ruled sub-continent. He is well-known for his scholarly works on politics, economics, history, philosophy and religion. But he is best known for his poetic works in Urdu and Persian languages. He was a strong advocate of political and spiritual revival of Islamic civilisation across the world, specifically in South Asia.
Bang-e-Dara was Allama Muhammad Iqbal's first collection of Urdu poems. First written in Persian, Bang-e-Dara was translated into Urdu by popular demand. It contains poems written over a period of 20 years and is divided into 3 parts:
1. Poems written up to 1905, the year Iqbal left for England. These include nursery, patriotic and scenic and landscape imagery verses, including the Tarana-e-Hind (The Song of India) and Tarana-e-Milli (Anthem of the Muslim Community.
2. The second part dates from 1905 to 1908 when Iqbal studied in Europe. In poems written in this period, he emphasized that Europe had lost spiritual and religious values. This inspired Iqbal to write poems on the historical and cultural heritage of Islamic culture and Muslim people. He urged the global community of Muslims to define personal, social and political existence by the values and teachings of Islam. Poems such as Tulu'i Islam (Dawn of Islam) and Khizr-e-Rah (Guide of the Path) are especially acclaimed.
3. The third part includes poems written after 1908 around late 1920s. These works were mainly in Urdu and were often specifically directed at the Muslim masses of India, with an even stronger emphasis on Islam, and Muslim spiritual and political reawakening.
