The Mills Brothers were one of the greatest pop vocal groups of all time, at home handling smooth pop hits like 1952's "The Glow Worm," but also, thanks to their amazing ability to vocally mimic the instruments of a jazz orchestra, equally comfortable doing "instrumental" covers of jazz standards like Duke Ellington's "Caravan." This anthology gathers up mostly the latter-day pop material from the 1940s, although the brothers do get to show off their chops at imitating horns on cuts like "Tiger Rag," "My Gal Sal," and the wonderful "Basin Street Blues."
