About Vince Watson
b. Scotland. Influenced by Jean-Michel Jarre and hip-hop, house and techno DJ Watson’s interest in electronic music blossomed while at school, and he began to DJ in his spare time. He studied Music Technology in Glasgow, graduating with a HNC in Music Technology in 1993. In 1995, his demos attracted the interest of established DJ/producer Dave Angel, who signed him to his label Rotation for his first releases, the Innovations EPs in 1996 and 1997. Angel and Watson also ran the ‘Rotation’ nights at the Arena club in Glasgow, where a number of heavyweight DJs appeared as guests. Watson’s debut, Biologique, was released on Omid Nourizadeh’s Alola imprint in 1999 to positive reviews. Biologique demonstrated Watson’s interest in a number of electronic styles but focused mainly on techno and tech-house. The following year Watson pursued his love of techno with the launch of his own label, Bio Records. Watson’s follow-up for Alola, Moments In Time, was released in the USA on the Ibadan label in 2001, and was also well received by the press and the dance scene. DJs such as Mauro Picotto, Slam and Carl Craig included Watson’s more techno-orientated material in their sets. Watson himself continues to DJ at various events and clubs around the world.
