Act of Valor (The Album) [Music from the Motion Picture]

Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh's directorial debut, Act of Valor, is about a kidnapped CIA agent and the mission to rescue him by an elite team of salt-of-the-earth Navy SEALs. Fitting, then, that all 10 songs on the film's soundtrack were imported from Music City. Keith Urban treats fans to a previously unreleased tune: the opening “For You” starts as an acoustic-based number musing on family and freedom before an explosive chorus thunders in like a flash flood of cranked electric guitars and a blasting rhythm section. What stands out here is Urban’s emotive vocals and heartening lyrics. Sugarland also delivers a new gem with “Guide You Home,” a slow-burning duet that blends '70s classic rock with a glossy Nashville sheen. Originally contributed to AT&T’s Team USA soundtrack for the 2008 Summer Olympics, Lady Antebellum’s power ballad “I Was Here” reappears on this collection with its cascading piano notes.
